Pick the low hanging fruit

Aug 24th, 2008 by Patti | 0

His house is modest and solar powered. He dug up his lawn and replaced it with edibles. (He also has a TV show, book and non-toxic cleaning product line.)
The reporter asked Ed: What can the [...]

It’s predecessor was the War Garden which started during World War I.
The intentions were similar… have the population produce most of the food they need to free up large [...]

Locavores and Lazy Locavores

Jul 24th, 2008 by Patti | 0

Quick… what word did the New Oxford American Dictionary deem word of the year for 2007…
LOCAVORE
A locavore is one who eats locally grown food. Local often defined as grown within 100 miles.
So Carnivore – meat eating.
Vegetarian – vegetable (and fruit eating)… shouldn’t it be a Vegavore?
Locavore – engages in the sustainable practice of [...]

Digital dumpster diving

Jul 21st, 2008 by Patti | 0

Gardening can be expensive… and it can be inexpensive.
Craigslist is a rather interesting resource.
It started out many years ago as a type of bulletin board for San Francisco area folks. Initially it was mostly about events/places/things to do. It expanded from there to a huge classifieds type site. Real estate for rent and for [...]
