Last Picks
We’re nearing the end of the ‘08 Summer season. It’s been a so-so growing season – yields have been pretty poor but the quality has been great. I’d say this year’s tomatoes were some of the tastiest in recent years. There’s still some peppers, celery and a few melons yet to pick but that pretty much wraps up this Summer’s harvest.
While yields had much to be desired we’ve learned so much about improving our gardening skills – from composting to amending the soil to how to start seedlings to dealing with vermin to so much more…and there’s always so much more to learn.
Liberating the garden from Remy and friends is moving along so we do hope to put in a Winter garden in about 2 weeks. We’ve got some seeds sprouting that we have to carefully cover every night less we get up the next morning to find them nibbled to stubs. Worse case: we’ll buy starts at the nursery our veggies at the market.
Gardening is planning…tho the big yellow ball in the sky and pests, both naked to the eye and -eeeck- large, don’t always follow the plan! – Gardening is always an adventure.
